A apartment that once played home to Taylor Swift has hit the market for an eyewatering $18million – thanks to plum amenities like a private indoor pool and a full two-car garage despite being set in the Big Apple.

Located on quiet Cornelia Street, the 5,500-square-foot, five-bed abode was built in 1870 to store horse-drawn carriages, but in the century since has undergone several facelifts – while being lived in by multiple deep-pocketed tenants.

In 2016, the idyllic townhouse – which last sold for $11.5million – was occupied by a then-27year-old Swift, who elected to temporarily rent the apartment while her $50million loft a few blocks away was undergoing renovations.

For the next several months, Swift resided at the home on ‘Cornelia Street’ – an experience she alluded to in the ninth song of her seventh studio album, which carries the same name.

Aside from the star’s temporary stay in the Village, the song contains lyrics that speaks to the early days of a relationship with a man many believe to be Joe Alwyn – with whom she split in March.

That said, the pair began dating in 2016, right around the time Swift lived at the residence.

‘”I rent a place on Cornelia Street,”‘ Swift sings in the first verse of the 2019 song, in which she recalled words shared with a mystery man in the back of a car after a night with drinking.

The love ballad goes on to tell the story of a new, budding relationship between Swift and the unnamed man – who many have since assumed to be Alwyn – and the pop star being scared for its potential end, which would then make it too difficult for her to ever return to the apartment.

‘I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends/I’d never walk Cornelia Street again/That’s the kind of heartbreak time could never mend/I’d never walk Cornelia Street again,’ the song goes.

Back in March, that prophecy – if referencing Alwyn – came true, when it was revealed that Swift and her beau of more than six years had broken up.

Roughly a month after that was first reported, realtors at the Corcoran Group posted a listing indicating the apartment on 23 Cornelia Street was up for sale, for a price well beyond that of other homes in the neighborhood – by several millions of dollars.

Speaking to Curbed Friday, staffers at the Madison Avenue based real estate firm explained how they are confident that the home’s rich history – as well as its number of unusual features – will help command the hefty price tag.

‘I am the biggest fan of unique properties,’ said Sydney Blumstein of the renovated 19th-century relic, which comes complete with a slew of fireplaces and well-situated terraces.

‘You can’t comp out a private swimming pool on a quiet street like Cornelia,’ Blumstein, a native of nearby Greenwich Village, went on to add.

Swift, now 33, resided at the home for several months in 2016 and 2017 - an experience she alluded to in the ninth song of her seventh studio album, also called Cornelia Street

Helping to achieve this air of seclusion is the fact that Cornelia is a lesser known side street – and the added detail that there’s a garage where more high-profile buyers can get enter and exit their vehicles without fear of being detected by paparazzi.
