The Jewish Congregation received phone calls threatening to “kill everyone,” according to the Venice Police Department.
VENICE, Fla. — Authorities in Sarasota County are responding to a reported threat at the Jewish Congregation of Venice.
Just before 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Venice Police Department confirmed it was at the scene on North Auburn Road with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and Venice Fire Rescue.
Police said the Jewish Congregation received phone calls threatening to “kill everyone.” At this time, police say the threat is limited to phone calls.
No injuries have been reported, and there is no suspect in custody.
“This threat is serious in nature and is being investigated with law enforcement on site,” the police department wrote.
People are asked to avoid the area as the scene remains “very active.”
