Police were responding to a welfare check requested by family, JSO said. They found 3 adults dead inside, one of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Three people were found dead at a home in the 4000 block of Gilmore Street in Murray Hill around noon Thursday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The three victims, all adults, were suffering from gunshot wounds, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Police say one of the gunshot wounds appears to be self-inflicted, based on evidence.

They found the gun inside the home and there are no outstanding suspects.

Neighbors in the area were heartbroken after learning this information.

“I lost my partner to a self-inflicted gunshot wound five years ago now, so, yeah, this kind of hits home,” Jim Wallman, a neighbor told First Coast News.

“We’re all in shock around here,” Wallman added.

Family had called police asking for a welfare check earlier in the day. Based on evidence at the scene, police “realized they needed to make entry into the residence to check on the welfare of those inside.”

This is when police located the victims, who were in different bedrooms throughout the house.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit detectives were on scene Thursday. JSO says the State Attorney’s Office will also assist in this investigation.

JSO is still waiting the victims’ autopsies before they release an official cause of death.

The family members said they had last heard from the victims the day before, JSO said. They did not release the reason the family had called for a welfare check.

Police have not determined the relationship between the three victims at this time.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact CrimeStoppers at 866-845-8477, or call JSO at 904-630-0500.

Most neighbors reported hearing no gunshots or any loud noises. Neighbors are left wondering how something like this could happen in their quiet neighborhood.

“We’re in Murray Hill here, and that’s not a normal incident,” Kurt Krause said.
