In response to a surge of violence and disorder, Mayor Muriel Bowser of Washington, DC, has declared a citywide curfew for individuals under 18, effective from Saturday night. This measure aims to curb the unrest that has plagued the city for weeks.

The directive, which will be enforced until November 5, empowers law enforcement to designate “special zones” or high-risk areas where curfews can be imposed starting at 6 p.m. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance safety in troubled neighborhoods.

Additionally, DC police have been granted the authority to create temporary curfew zones in locations where groups of more than eight minors gather, as these assemblies might pose significant public safety concerns.
