Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter: ‘Spring is an active time for our Tahoe bear population and a good reminder to be bear-aware when enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

‘Here are some tips to help prevent unwelcome bear visits: Be mindful of food wrappers, coolers, and scented items in vehicles. Avoid leaving food in cars. Don’t leave garbage outside & dispose of trash inside (not next to) bear-proof designated receptacles. Do not feed the bears!’

Last year, a mother bear was caught opening the doors of an unlocked car while looking for snacks with her two bear cubs in a residential area of Lake Tahoe, infringing on 500-pound black bear ‘Hank the Tank’s’ territory.

In surveillance footage exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com, a grizzly bear was recorded by a Ring doorbell of a Lake Tahoe resident in May opening up a black Chevrolet Suburban while her babies waited in the thick snow.

The bear then hopped onto the SUV’s driver seat and dug its nose, sniffing across the vehicle’s dashboard in an attempt to find something yummy.

It is unclear whether the bear was successful in finding food, as the video is cut short beforehand.
