In 2009, Jennifer Griffin was diagnosed with stage 3  triple-negative breast cancer. Afterward, she underwent chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and radiation for treatment.

 

 

When she was breastfeeding her son, she noticed a lump on her breast. She dismissed it at first, thinking it was just a milk duct. In her family, there is a history of breast cancer.

Jennifer Griffin and her husband Greg Myre have been married since 1994. He is also a journalist who has worked as a national security correspondent for NPR.

She was a Harvard student at the time, and Myre was an Associated Press staff correspondent.
