CJ Albertson is originally from Fresno, a city in California. He attended Buchanan High School for his education.
For his higher education, the runner had attended Arizona State University, where he completed his major in Exercise and Physical Education.
During his time as a bear, he had competed in the 7-team Valley Championships. Back in the days, he was a 2-time Fresno Bee Runner of the Year
Before going to Arizona State University, he won the B’nai B’rith award to finish off his senior year.
While in the college, CJ became the ASU School Record Holder in the Indoor 5000m with the top ten all-time marks in university history.
According to The Boston Herald, Albertson is now a head coach and a professor at the Clovis Community College in Fresno.
As a coach at Clovis, Albertson helped the school’s Men’s and Women’s teams to the State Championships. Under his guidance, the women’s team had achieved a third-place finish at the Northern Regional Championships.
Previously, he had been a coach at West Ranch High School in Santa Clarita. In addition, the CJ has been running at the Olympics trial and many other domestic competitions.
CJ was in the lead for the first 20 miles in the 2021 Boston Marathon before finishing 10th in 2:11:44.
