Emma Coburn, aged 30, set a new world record of 9:09.41 at the US Olympic Track & Field Trials. She is ready to take charge in Tokyo.
Emma Coburn is an American middle-distance runner who specializes in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
She’s a nine-time national champion, winning every year since 2011, except 2013, that is when she didn’t compete
Emma also won 3000-meter steeplechase at the 2017 World Championship, in London breaking her own record with a time of 9.02.58. This tagged her as the first American woman to win a gold medal in the steeplechase at the World Championships.
She was second at a global championship since the 1952 Olympics and took silver at 2019 Worlds in Doha.

Further, In June, after a year of waiting, Emma won the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials in a new Trials record of 9:09.41 and now looks ahead to competing against the world’s best in Tokyo.
Emma Coburn Parents And Family Background
Emma Coburn was born to parents Annie Coburn and Bill Coburn on October 19, 1990. She was born in Boulder, Colorado.
She was then moved to Crested Butte, Colorado at the age of 7 years old.
Emma has an older brother named Willy, and a sister Gracie in her family.
As a family, they have always been active, playing lots of sports and doing lots of adventures together. By middle school, she was a three-sport athlete—cross-country, hockey, and track—following in the footsteps of her older brother.
Her parents have been very influential in her athletic career, she mentions. They travel all over the world to watch her race and support her.

Emma Coburn’s boyfriend Joe Bosshard is now her husband and coach. The couple first met in high school in 2007, after Bosshard’s family moved to Crested Butte. They graduated together from Crested Butte Community School.

Later, Emma & Joe got married in 2017. The running couple’s wedding took place in Hawaii.
The duo spent days leading up to the ceremony practicing their “Dirty Dancing” moves on the beaches of Kauai and enjoying a luau rehearsal dinner among fellow runner friends.
Further, the couple together has started benefitting a local charity, Emma Coburn’s Elk Run 5k which raised about $90,000 in the past three years of racing.
