Brian Goorjian is an Australian basketball coach for the Illawarra Hawks of the National Basketball League. 

He was declared one of the most successful coaches in NBL history by Basketball Australia. 

A former player, Goorijian, in his career as a coach, has won 6 championships: two with the South East Melbourne Magic, three with the Sydney Kings, and one with the South Dragons.

From 2001 to 2008, he served as the head coach of the Australian men’s team. 

Further, Brian was also the head coach of Dongguan Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association in 2009 and continued for six seasons. 

He then served as an assistant coach for the Dongguan Leopards of the Chinese Basketball Association, followed by serving as a special advisor to the Shanghai Sharks from 2016 to 2018, and assistant coach in 2018 for one season. 

Lastly, he returned to the NBL as the head coach of the Illawarra Hawks in 2020 and is continued to serve till 2023 as per his contract.

His father is an American former college basketball coach who served as the head coach of the Loyola Marymount Lions men’s team from 1980 to 1985. However, his mother’s name is unknown to date. 

Brian’s younger brothers were basketball players at Crescenta Valley Hight School whilst he played college basketball for the Pepperdine Waves.

Goorjian was born in Glendale, California, and holds American-Australian nationality.
