“Tickner Mora O Beng O Beng” has confused fans as the much-anticipated BBC Peaky Blinders returns to television.
Tommy Shelby, who is suffering from a fever in the first episode, keeps repeating the Romany phrase. Tommy receives a call from his wife Lizzie during his business trip to Boston, informing him that his daughter has a high fever.
She goes on to say that Ruby has been hallucinating and seeing visions of men. Ruby’s mother also stated that she was saying “Tickner Mora O Beng O Beng.”

It is quite difficult to pin down the phrase in the actual English version. However, Wales Online mentioned ‘Tickner’ or ‘Tikna’ means little girl or daughter in Romany ‘beng’ means supernatural person, and can sometimes mean the Devil.
Likewise, ‘Mora’ translates as ‘Maura’, can mean friend. On the other hand, in Latin word, it means ‘death’.
As Tommy has always shown superstition, he is scared as his daughter is repeating the phrase. He goes to order Johnny Dog’s wife to put a black Madonna around Ruby’s neck.
