Dexter “Blaxx” Stewart, a soca artist, was battling the covid19 virus in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and was reported to have died.
On Wednesday, his manager, Giselle Gellineau-Penrose, confirmed his admission to ICU.
She also indicated that he was under surveillance. Meanwhile, the singer was reportedly being treated for covid at the Arima General Hospital on Monday.

Blaxx Stewart died at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy. After contracting Covid-19, he was hospitalized to the hospital earlier this week.
In October 2020, the vocalist of “I Feel Like Hulk” spent several weeks in the hospital after complaining of lung problems.
Medical testing revealed that he had potentially serious kidney function issues as well.
Blaxx is so dedicated to soca music that he would fight and die for it. That is the extent of the sick soca star’s commitment to Trinidad and Tobago culture.
Gellineau-Penrose, who was visibly moved, attempted to express her deep regard and respect for the seasoned soca veteran.
He was admitted to the Arima Hospital’s intensive care unit in a severe condition (ICU).

Latoya Wright, Blaxx’s wife, is also a music contributor who has always stood by him through his highs and lows.
The singer died in a hospital at the age of 61 from a Covid infection.
The TT Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts has sent its heartfelt sympathies to Mr. Dexter ‘Blaxx’ Ste wart’s family and friends.
“We are heartbroken to lose one of Trinidad & Tobago’s finest Soca artistes and cultural icons,” the statement said.
