Tiberiu Popa is a professor of Butler University who has been recently arrested for “an abhorrent crime” as per the school’s described his wrong deeds.Â
Butler University is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is a nationally recognized university with six academic colleges. In their 2022 report, Butler was ranked the No. 1 regional Univesity in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report.

When he was arrested for child pornography, the University didn’t waste time putting him on administrative leave; instead, he was fired right away. The school confirmed that a note from the Butler University campus updates email was sent to students.
According to the letter, on Friday, professor Tiberiu Popa “was arrested on a slew of felony charges stemming from child pornography.
The school describes the accusation as “an abhorrent crime.””
The University also stated that they have no reason to believe Popa had any inappropriate relationships with minors or students while at Butler.
Popa, they believe, causes no harm to their students. However, it will be revealed only after the police conduct a thorough investigation. However, no students appear to have reported to the school if they were Popa’s victim.
Why Was The Professor Arrested?
Tiberiu Popa was arrested on suspicion of child pornography. The investigation will be led by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, with assistance from the Butler University Police Department.
This has had a significant impact on the University’s reputation. It is ranked No. 1 in the country for Most Innovative School, No. 1 in the country for Undergraduate Teaching, and has received national rankings for first-year experience and study abroad opportunities.

Tiberiu Popa’s charges are not limited to one, but he has been charged with several crimes. He was charged with ten felonies and five counts of child pornography with an aggravating factor.

It implies that the image was more exploitative. Popa’s bond was set at $40,000 dollars. With the university’s reputation, there was no way they could entertain him, so he was fired.
It was a disgrace for a professor to commit such a heinous crime. Professors, in particular, are responsible for shaping students’ futures, and if they fail to do so, action must be taken.
