According to his LinkedIn profile, he acquired his MBA degree in Finance from The Wharton School in 1980. Aside from his involvement in the board membership of Spotify, he also acts as theBoard Member of Insta Cart. He has been serving on the boards since Jan 2021 and has been in this post for over a year.
Barry began his career at Credit Suisse First Boston in the 1980s and later moved on to Music Choice, a music company, where he held his first CFO position. Following that, he worked at Netflix, where he oversaw a traditional IPO under Hastings.
He joined Spotify’s board of directors in 2014, and after a year, he was promoted to CFO and Global Head of Free Business.
Characterwise, Barry is not usually the person to have any attention cast on him and maintains a low profile. Actually, it is his decision to take Spotify into a direct listing offering without the traditional assistance from investment banks as per Vox.
