Katie Cook Rayburn, 48, was one of two prosecutors who successfully prosecuted Carter for manslaughter in a case that went all the way to the state Supreme Judicial Court, where she was found competent to stand trial.

On June 16, Rayburn and colleague Assistant District Attorney Maryclare Flynn secured a possibly landmark conviction in the case of Michelle Carter, the Plainville woman convicted of manslaughter for forcing Mattapoisett 18-year-old Conrad Roy II to commit suicide.

The case gained national and international attention, and Rayburn was instrumental in persuading Judge Lawrence Moniz to find that words may kill after years of filings, appeals, and arguments.

Rayburn, a Weymouth native, earned his law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1999 after graduating from the University of Massachusetts Darmouth with a bachelor’s degree in political science.

She has held positions at Grassia, Murphy and Whitney, the Law Office of Daniel W. O’Malley, and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, among others.

According to a spokeswoman for Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, Rayburn was the deputy head prosecutor of the homicide squad, with a record of convictions in 13 of 14 murder cases.

She is presently employed as an assistant district attorney at the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, where she also serves as the deputy chief of the homicide section.

The Governor’s Council must yet ratify her candidacy.

Is Katie Rayburn Married? Husband Details Explored

Katie Cook Rayburn has never spoken about her marital status in public or to the media, thus it’s uncertain if she’s married and has a husband.

Some websites, however, suggest that she is a married lady. Nevertheless, it is difficult to make any assertions at this time because the material has not been authenticated by Rayburn or the authorities.

In addition, no information about her other relatives has been made public. The high-profile character of the trial, on the other hand, came with its own set of dangers for Rayburn.

More information on the carter case has yet to be provided to the DA.

Nonetheless, we are doing everything we can to obtain all relevant Rayburn information so that we can keep our readers up to date as soon as possible.
