If you’re like Kaley Cuoco and haven’t watched “Ozark,” perhaps you’ve seen Tom Pelphrey’s work in the David Fincher film “Mank” or the series “Outer Range,” “Iron Fist,” or “Banshee.” But in an interview with New York Moves Magazine, the New Jersey native revealed that football was his first love. An injury dashed his dream of playing the sport in high school, and while he was still hobbling around on crutches, a friend encouraged him to audition for a play. He soon discovered a new passion, but his love of football remained intact — while watching the New York Giants win Super Bowl XLII at a bar, he went so wild that he almost got kicked out, per Esquire.

Fast forward to 2022, and Pelphrey is playing the role of supportive boyfriend by watching the Emmy nominations with Cuoco. They were still celebrating her nomination for “The Flight Attendant” when Pelphrey learned that he had scored his own nod in best drama guest actor category. “It was a pretty special day,” he told GoldDerby.

The actor’s post-“Ozark” roles include the movie “She Said,” which is about the Harvey Weinstein investigation, and the true crime miniseries “Love & Death,” which sees him share the screen with Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons. He also landed the lead in the movie “American Murderer.” But there’s one role he won’t be playing anytime soon: husband. “I will never get married again,” Cuoco vowed to Glamour.
