Ashley Michels is an American reporter and anchor who currently works as a reporter for FOX31 Denver and Channel 2 News. She joined the station in April 2014. Most notably, she began her career as a political reporter for WCIA-TV in Springfield, Illinois.

She is a proud graduate of Northern Illinois University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in broadcast journalism, Journalism, and International politics. Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in political affairs reporting from the University of Illinois Springfield.

During her freshman year, she was selected as a contestant on the “Wheel of Fortune” game show. It was after taping that a producer told her she would be on TV for a living. She took that advice to heart and went on to earn a B.A. in broadcast journalism, English, and international politics. She credits the game show for launching her into the field of broadcast television.

Following her career journey, in 2010 she was sent to Littleton, CO to cover Illionois’ former Governor Rob Blagojevich’s report to prison. It was at this time that she fell in love with Denver and decided it would be her next move. Besides work, her passion is travel. For this, she has lived in Australia, Ireland, and Peru. Additionally, she has also traveled through Europe and New Zealand. Ashley’s dream vacation destinations include Iceland, South Africa, and Central America.
