TikTok’s latest food obsession is “pancake spaghetti” — but some might call it “squiggle cakes.”
TikToker Briana Archuleta had mouths watering when she posted a video of her husband Steven’s kitchen concoction. The father stumbled upon the idea while making breakfast for the kids one day. The result was a crispy, buttery new take on pancakes and funnel cakes.
“My husband invented something delicious this morning! Pancake spaghetti,” Briana wrote, adding in the caption, “Or as he likes to call squiggle cakes.”
The unique dish racked up 10.2 million views and 1.5 million likes on TikTok.
“Angel hair funnel cakes,” someone dubbed them.
“If he wasn’t already your husband I’d say marry him,” another said.
“I’m very impressed and need to make this for my family of pancake & spaghetti lovers,” a TikToker replied.
In an update, Steven gave a tutorial and more insight into his invention.
“I got the idea for squiggle cakes when I was making pancakes for my kids really quick before they had to go to school,” Steven explained. “I actually had to pick up and move — because the day before I made some spaghetti — so I moved the spaghetti and I was like ‘Wait a minute!’”

To make his squiggle cakes, he made extra thin pancake batter and then put it in a Ziplock bag. He cut a tiny hole at the tip of the bag to use it for piping.
Steven made thin strips with the batter on a griddle with melted butter. He explained that thinner strips cook quicker and more evenly. It also makes them crispy and crunchy.
After cooking, he served them in a bowl like spaghetti and topped the “squiggle cakes” with blueberry compote, maple sausage and powdered sugar.
