When she learned that her son had Down syndrome and rare congenital colon abnormalities, she told People that she “was in shock.” I wouldn’t trade my life for anything, she said, even if “looking back on my life, a lot of things happened that I wouldn’t have intended.” Jones is a special baby, and I wouldn’t trade him for any other.

That is true love from a mother to child

This week, former Bachelorette Emily Maynard Johnson revealed that she had given birth to a kid with Down syndrome named Jones.

The handsome Texas bar owner Brad Womack was the object of Emily’s winning competition during season 15 of The Bachelor in 2011.

At that period, she already had a child with her deceased fiancé Ricky Hendrick, a NASCAR driver who passed away in a plane crash while Emily was pregnant. Ricki, who is now 17 years old, was born to this couple.

After she and Brad split up in 2011, she went on to become The Bachelorette and chose Jef Holm as her final contestant.

Emily and Jef broke up in 2012 and two years later she tied the knot with Tyler at his family’s picturesque farm in South Carolina.

Before Jones, Tyler and Emily soon had four children after getting married: Jennings, 7, Gibson, 6, Gaitlin, 4, and Nola, 2.

Emily was originally diagnosed with Bell’s palsy in high school and received the diagnosis while pregnant with Nola.

After Jones was born, Emily was astounded to learn of his medical issues because they had not even crossed her mind.

And I didn’t want to accept it. I just needed to cuddle him and hope that everything would be alright.

Jones suffered a blow his mother called “devastating” in which he had to undergo surgery and spend a month in neonatal critical care.

She admitted: “I was simply mourning everything and the fact that the experience was so dissimilar from what I had anticipated.”

It hurt so much to wake up the following morning to the sounds of all the babies wailing in the hallway while I was by myself in the room.

Ricki was “through it all, my best friend.”

She sent me 47 roses while I was in the hospital to symbolize Jones’ 47 chromosomes.

Jones, who Emily described as “lovely and cheerful,” was “the easiest baby and he’s simply been our best blessing” when he was brought home from the hospital.

She acknowledged: ‘I’m still learning about Down syndrome, but I’m trying to also just experience Jones as Jones and not as different than any of the other kids.’

Emily reflected: ‘I am so grateful. But I’m still on my journey of processing everything. And I have to trust that it will all turn out alright.’

Taking the news to her Instagram page, she wrote: ‘SURPRISE! On August 31st, Tyler and I welcomed our sweet son, Jones West Johnson, into the world.’

She uttered: “Although it was undoubtedly unexpected, we are completely at peace with God’s perfect plan and are confident that Jones will be a blessing to our family. During my procedure, we discovered that he was born with Down syndrome.”

He was in the NICU for just over a month but is now happy at home, and as Emily put it, we cherish him to the moon and back.

She expressed gratitude to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, “for all that you did for our family.” I’m ecstatic to finally divulge the details and allow everyone to view the images! He is without a doubt the cherry on top.
