HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls is back for Season 2. Created by Mindy Kaling and Justin Noble, the series follows four college freshmen as they navigate love and relationships in their first year at the fictional Essex College in Vermont.
The new season sees a selection of new characters, including the girls’ new next-door neighbor, “climate refugee” Jackson whose home in Kansas was affected by a natural disaster. Jackson is played by newcomer Mitchell Slaggert, who is pretty new to acting and the entertainment industry. Despite his good looks and charm, the four leading ladies learn he isn’t that much fun to live next door to, considering his late-night activities.

8/8 What Has Mitchell Slaggert Been In Before?
Mitchell Slaggert, is new to the acting industry. He made his on-screen acting debut with the 2017 coming-of-age film Moss.
He then appeared in Write When You Work and Spare Room in 2018. That same year, Slaggert appeared in four episodes of Diablo Guardián. His next two projects were short films: 2020’s Le Male Le Parfum and 2021’s Lightning Strikes.
His biggest role to date was appearing in the Season 1 finale of the HBO Max Gossip Girl revival series as a character named Rob.
7/8 Mitchell Slaggert Comes From A Southern Military Family
“I come from a Southern, structured military family,” the 28-year-old told PEOPLE. “And when I was in high school, my mentor was getting me up at 4 a.m. to train me to be the next generation of soldier, because he was an old Special Forces guy.”
He continues, “I enlisted in the Marine Corps right after high school, [but] I was unable to join because I lost a kidney in a car accident when I was 7.”
6/8 Mitchell Slaggert Had A Happy Childhood
Mitchell Slaggert always speaks fondly of his childhood. “The Americana aesthetic, that’s what I grew up with. It’s in the DNA of things. I was so fortunate to live such a great childhood and I have phenomenal parents,” he explained.
5/8 Mitchell Slaggert Worked As A Model
Before becoming an actor on the HBO comedy, Mitchell Slaggert was best known as a male model, even being mentioned in a New York Times article.
“I went to college for two years, then got scouted to be a model,” he also explained to PEOPLE. “At first, I was like, ‘Eh, thank you. No, thank you.’ And long story short, I get a contract in the mail from DNA Models, and I’m like, ‘Oh, what is that?’ Two weeks after that, I’m doing Calvin Klein exclusive runway. And then, [there was] a big New York Times article [on me being] the new Calvin Klein guy.”

“I had to take a step back because I didn’t want to be known as a model–turned–actor with no chops. I took a step back, and I got a bunch of training. Now, I’m back on the scene.” You may have seen him in the Jean Paul Gaultier ads.

Mitchell Slaggert doesn’t appear to be linked to anyone at the moment, he keeps pretty quiet on his dating life. His social media is mostly dedicated to outdoor activities like fishing trips and his four-legged friends.
3/8 Fans Slide Into Mitchell Slaggert’s DMs
Since being cast on the HBO MAX comedy, Mitchell Slaggert has admitted he has been quite popular with female fans.
“There’s a couple interesting ones, but it’s a lot of supportive stuff,” Slaggert has revealed when asked about fans messaging him.
“People have been very kind [and] just been like, ‘Hey, we’ve been following your career for a while. Just happy to see that you’re doing this.’ It’s been more of that, which is reassuring.”
2/8 Mitchell Slaggert Loves Being Outdoor
If you follow Mitchell Slaggert on social media, you will have noticed that Mitchell loves being outdoors.
“Growing up, my father and I would take the canoe out for ten hours. When we were shooting Moss [Slaggert’s first film], we were canoeing up and down the river and you needed to be really good in a canoe because there’s big wind gusts, and if you get blown to shore you could spook an alligator. One time this big ten-footer just Nat Geo’ed themself into the water, right in front of me. I was like, ‘That’s cool, but I’m happy I didn’t spook him.’”
1/8 What Did Mitchell Slaggert Say About Working On The Sex Lives Of College Girls?
Mitchell Slaggert has promised the new HBO MAX is full of “unexpected turns.”
“It keeps you on your toes,” he told PEOPLE. “Even when I was reading the script and I thought had a general idea of where my character was headed, I certainly didn’t see that one coming.”
He describes his experience of working with the cast and crew, as positive, saying “everybody was very nice, warm and welcoming.”
“They just welcomed me in with open arms,” he says. “Getting to know them more, [it] was interesting to find out that Reneé [Rapp] grew up 15 minutes away from me. I was like, ‘Wait a minute, wait a minute.’ But that was cool.”
“I’m so fortunate where I’ve been in the industry for a while, and I’ve had great parents. I just get along with everybody,” he told Yahoo. “So I just went in it and was just like, ‘Oh yes, hello. Hi, I’m Mitchell.’ Everybody was very nice, warm, and welcoming.”
