Prince Harry Family Is No More Protected By British Police- Why And What Happened?

The Duke of Sussex said heĀ ‘never’ thought his family’s protection by British police would be pulled after they stepped down as working royals.

In this regard, Harry claimed to have reassured his wife. “Would they remove our security?” M asked me. They’ll never do that, I proclaimed.

‘Meghan’s background, her heritage, the well-known hate campaigns against us, suspicious items being delivered to the palaces, specifically with her name on them or my name on them.’

Do you believe they’ll carry it out, she asked? They would never do it, I retorted. They carried it out.

On March 31, 2020, Harry said his family’s security was taken away, giving him less than three weeks to make preparations. He states that after announcing their resignation, his family was ‘totally mobbed’ by the media on Vancouver Island in Canada, leaving them at their most vulnerable.

At the time, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated that it had been helping Scotland Yard police at the request of the Metropolitan Police, but that it would stop once the status of the Sussexes changed.

The duchess sobbed as she spoke of receiving death threats and worrying for the safety of her children. Since then, they have been able to afford security because to Harry and Meghan’s contracts with Netflix and Spotify.

However, the duke has filed a lawsuit against the Home Office for their safety in the UK.

Prince Harry launches legal action against the UK government to have the same police protection he enjoyed before renouncing royal duties

According to the Mail on Sunday, Prince Harry is suing the government for removing his UK police security because he believes it would be unsafe for his family to return to the country without it.

In a “pre-action protocol” letter to the Home Office, Harry’s attorneys, who retired from royal duties two years ago, state that they would file a court review if the Sussexes are not given continuing security while they are in Britain, which they make clear he is willing to pay for.

In a statement, the prince makes reference to the fact that even after leaving public position, like Prince Harry did two years ago, other people have continued to be protected by the police.

If the lawsuit goes forward, Ministers and Prince Harry will engage in combat in the High Court.

Harry wishes to bring his son Archie and infant daughter Lilibet to visit from the US, but according to a legal representative, he and his family “are unable to return to his home” since it is so unsafe.

In the summer of 2021, as he was leaving a charity event in London, his security was compromised as a result of paparazzi photographers pursuing his car.

According to a legal representative for Harry, the duke prefers to pay for the security himself rather than have the government foot the bill.

The statement said: ‘As is widely known, others who have left public office and have an inherent threat risk receive police protection at no cost to them.’

Harry is arguing his private protection team in the US does not have adequate jurisdiction abroad or access to UK intelligence information which is needed keep the Sussex family safe.

‘The UK will always be Prince Harry’s home and a country he wants his wife and children to be safe in,’ the legal representative for the duke said in a statement.

‘With the lack of police protection, comes too great a personal risk.’

The representative added: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Sussex personally fund a private security team for their family, yet that security cannot replicate the necessary police protection needed whilst in the UK.

“Prince Harry and his family are unable to return to his residence in the absence of such protection.”

Thought to be the first time a member of the Royal Family has initiated a complaint against Her Majesty’s Government, the Queen is said to have been informed of her grandson’s move.

According to a source who spoke to the Mail on Sunday, Harry’s main point is that “you got the law wrong.” He thinks it was wrong to eliminate his security. Harry’s attorneys have issued pre-action guidelines to the Home Office. This basically serves as a prelude to a judicial review.
