Manchester United are readying a foray in the January transfer window as they look to capitalise on a promising start to the new Premier League season.

After opening with two defeats, the Red Devils now sit fifth in the table with a game in hand after four consecutive victories.

The club, despite their upturn in fortune, have only managed eight goals in their six league matches, and unsurprisingly a new striker is top of manager Erik ten Hag’s wishlist.

It’s no surprise either that, after summer spending of £220million, that their current top option, according to The Sun, is Benfica star Goncalo Ramos with the club making contact with his representatives.

The 21-year-old is thrilling now he is out from the shadow of Liverpool new boy Darwin Nunez.

Ramos has eight goals in 12 matches across all competitions this season, the same amount he managed in 46 last time out.

But, unlike Nunez, the Portugal Under-21 hotshot is reportedly available at a reasonable price, despite a £100m release clause.

He could be landed for around £25m but Man United aren’t the only side interested in him at that price.

Newcastle United and manager Eddie Howe have previously been credited with interest in the forward, along with Southampton and Wolves.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have also looked at the striker as they attempt to replace Robert Lewandowski in the long-term after his switch to Barcelona.
