He was born on October 18, 1952. Ratcliffe is the founder and CEO of the Ineos chemicals firm, which he formed in 1998 and has a two-thirds ownership of. His public persona is modest, and The Sunday Times once called him “publicity shy.” Ratcliffe formally relocated his tax domicile from Hampshire to Monaco in September 2020, a move that is expected to save him £4 billion in taxes.
The London-based corporation manufactures everything from plastics and synthetic oils to the solvents needed to create medicines and insulin.

In 1992, Ratcliffe took out a mortgage on his home to oversee the acquisition of a BP chemicals company. Six years later, he purchased a factory from that company to found Ineos.
The business has kept expanding through acquisitions. For $5 billion, Ineos purchased two more chemical companies from BP in January 2021.
According to reports, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stated that his company, Ineos, has formally entered the bidding to purchase Manchester United.
The Glazers announced their plans to sell United in November, 17 years after taking over at Old Trafford.
They are said to want £5billion for the club, and Ineos have now registered their interest in ousting them, according to The Times.
