Since the release of Despicable Me in 2010, the Minions have been a source of laughter and a never-ending meme generator. Currently, the #minions has over 18 billion views on TikTok. There have been five movies involving the yellow characters over the last 13 years, with two of those films being solo films for the Minions.
When Minions: The Rise of Gru (the most recent film in the Despicable Me series) opened in theaters, the popular trend was to wrangle as many of your friends as possible, dress up in formal wear and go see the movie. The trend became so viral that some movie theaters banned teenagers from participating in the trend.
“This movie is gonna make so much in the box office,” commented @corolij under that post.
Before the movie trend, people painted a Minion face onto their unsuspecting kids, nieces and nephews.
The Minions have found a way to stay at the top of the popular trend list for a long time. It’s been six months since the Minion movie release, but the Minions are once again the source of a viral trend.
Right now, users are using a scene from the Despicable Me franchise to let everyone know what’s good and what’s bad. The meme is centered around the Minions going through a slideshow with three pictures of things they like and two pictures they don’t like.
It’s also easy to set up, as many people who make the meme link it to a CapCut template.

Unlike when the Minions talk, this meme is an easy one to understand, as it only consists of cheering and booing. Minions have been an inescapable force over the last decade, and their bubbly, gibberish ways are here to stay with this meme.
