A Missouri school nurse allegedly had sex with a student at least a dozen times in recent months, including some encounters inside the school, KAIT-TV reports.
On Wednesday, police in Kennett arrested 26-year-old Candice Elizabeth Johnson in connection with the allegations.
Two days earlier, law enforcement authorities were tipped off that Johnson, a school nurse at Kennett High School, had allegedly been engaged in a sexual relationship with a teen student, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the television station.
Police officers spoke with the teen, who said he and Johnson had at least 12 sexual encounters since October 2022, including several in Johnson’s office at the school.
The pair also exchanged explicit photographs, according to the television station.
Kennett High School’s principal and vice principal reportedly interviewed multiple students and witnesses on January 26, according to KBSI-TV. In one interview, the teen victim was reportedly reluctant to acknowledge the sexual activity out of concern for Johnson.
“He did not want to get Johnson into any trouble,” court records state, according to KAIT-TV.
Johnson and the teen reportedly talked about “having a future together” and had spent time together, the teen’s mother told police, KAIT-TV reports.

Johnson faces two counts of second-degree statutory rape and two counts of sexual contact with a student, the Standard Democrat reports. Her bond was set at $40,000 and she is under court order to have not have any contact with minors under 17 years old.
Kennett is located in southeastern Missouri near the Arkansas border.
The charges against Johnson come after a Nebraska teacher was arrested on January 22 for alleging having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.
