This is the second shooting near a school in Williamsburg in the last three days.

On Monday at around 3 p.m., two teenagers were injured in a shooting that police said stemmed from an after school fight, according to WABC.

Police said a 18-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet near the head and a 17-year-old girl was shot in the abdomen on Maujer Street, less than a mile north of Williamsburg Charter High School.

The shooting happened near a campus on Bushwick Avenue that holds three different high schools – Progress High School, East Williamsburg Scholars Academy and the High School for Enterprise Business and Technology.

A spokesperson for the NYPD told DailyMail.com no arrests had been made in connection to the shooting.

Neighbor Keyshia Srmemore told the station that teenagers act like they own the place when they come to the apartment complex.

‘They’re fighting, they’re smoking, I told the school safety they’re here smoking – now they’re being shot? They’ll be on the roof.’

Police did not say what caused the fight or who was in possession of a gun.

In mid-January, two teenagers were shot by a 13-year-old outside of a high school in Queens.

The shooting was the result of a fight that got out of hand, according to PIX11 News.

The shooter – who was not identified due to his age – was charged with four counts of assault, two counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

The two victims – a boy and a girl – were taken to a local hospital with injuries to their right leg and right ankle, respectively. Police listed them in stable condition.

While shooting victims are down 36 percent (25 vs. 16 in 2022) in New York City through the first five weeks of 2023, overall crime remains up 4.3 percent.

There have been multiple shootings at New York City schools in recent weeks

At the time of that shooting, the city’s Department of Education released a statement.

‘Our schools are safe havens for our children, and there is no higher priority than their safety and well-being,’ they said.

‘Following a non-school-related shooting that occurred after school and off-campus, two injured students returned to the school, where our outstanding school leaders, guidance counselors and NYPD School Safety Agents provided essential and immediate supports and aid.’

Police previously said that shootings involving young people surged in 2022.
