Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson, best known by her stage name Lily James, is an English actress who was born on 5 April 1989. She started her acting career in the British television series Just William after studying acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (2010). Her breakthrough part in a movie came with the title role in Cinderella, which she originated in the historical drama series Downton Abbey (2012–2015). (2015).

James later portrayed Pamela Anderson in the biographical series Pam & Tommy and Countess Natasha Rostova in the 2016 television version of War & Peace (2022).

Her maternal grandmother was French and had to flee her small town outside of Paris due to the Nazis. She later married James’s grandpa, an RAF minister.
