Joaquin Phoenix was spotted filming on the set of Joker: Folie à Deux in New York City on Sunday morning.

The 48-year-old Oscar-winning actor donned a brown suit over a mustard yellow button-up as he was seemingly escorted into a police car while a large group of protestors gathered.

The Her star was seen walking with director and filmmaker Todd Phillips before he got into the cop cruiser in the middle of the busy and chaotic scene.

In the crowd, there were characters in the background who were seen holding ‘FREE JOKER’ signs.

The set looked similar to the one Lady Gaga was spotted at the day before in a Harley Quinn-inspired look.

At the scene of a courthouse, the two-time Golden Globe winner put on a stylish display in a business look straight out of the ’80s.

As he arrived on set, he seemed to be preparing to get into character as Arthur Fleck in a vintage tweed blazer and the matching trousers.

Underneath the sharp suit, he sported a marigold-colored button-up shirt and an earth-toned, striped tie.

He completed the look with a pair of chestnut leather shoes with a gold buckle.

His chin-length hair was slicked back neatly with gel and was not covered in green dye like his character is known for.

He also was not seen in any clown makeup on his face but instead opted for a pair of retro-looking sunglasses as he walked to his mark.

In the sequel, Phoenix will reprise his Oscar-winning role as the infamous Batman villain while singer-songwriter Lady Gaga, 36, will join him in the role of a henchwoman and love interest — his Harley Quinn.

Much of the plot is still currently unknown, but the title references a delusion or mental illness shared by two people, by definition.
