John Wick’s much anticipated spin-off TV series is set to premiere in September.

Producer Erica Lee has divulged the years-long speculation about the release of The Continental, a three-part television series which will focus on the hotel-for-assasins which Keanu Reeves’ Wick stays at in the movies.

At the centre of the storyline is a young Winston Scott, played by Ian McShane in the original film.

It will take place in 1975 New York as Scott faces demons from his past and he traverses a dangerous path in the big city’s underground scene in an attempt to take control of the hotel.

Speaking to Collider, Erica Lee divulged that the series will be available on Peacock in the US and on Prime Video internationally come September.

She said: ‘The show runners actually came, we heard a lot of pitches and we were debating whether or not we wanted to do a similar timeline of John Wick or an alternate timeline.

‘We felt like doing a prequel, doing an alternate timeline gave us a lot of flexibility just in running parallel tracks.

‘But what I think people love so much about John Wick and the John Wick world is learning about the hotels and the Easter eggs.’

A younger Winston, who is close friends with Wick, is going to be played by Colin Woodell who is the manager of the Continental Hotel. Ayomide Adegun will star as a youthful Charon.

The producer went on to say that the team was ‘really excited’ to ‘dig deeper’ into the hotel and the characters within each movie as they always gave ‘so little’ to audiences.

She said the timeline and the setting of The Continental allows them to ‘deep dive’ and explore each element more deeply.

The cast for the show is star-studded, with it being reported last year that Katie McGrath, Ray McKinnon, Adam Shapiro, Mark Musashi and Marina Mazepa have all signed on, Deadline reported.

They join Mel Gibson, Colin Woodell, Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate and Ben Robson.
