A three-frame video floating around social media shows Florida Governor and presumptive 2024 presidential candidate Ron DeSantis parroting the talking points of infamous neo-con John McCain, himself a failed multi-time candidate for President, on the topic of Russia and that nation’s President, Vladimir Putin.

In a 2014 interview with CNN, then-Senator John McCain claimed that “Russia is a gas station masquerading as a country,” as he recounted a trip he’d taken to Ukraine, to meet with those who, in a US and Soros-backed revolution, overthrew their nation’s democratically elected, pro-Russia government. At the time, DeSantis, like McCain, was an ardent supporter of the Ukrainian cause and criticized the Obama Administration for not doing enough to arm the Ukrainian forces and escalate the conflict.

Along with Mitt Romney, in the years since McCain’s “gas station” comments, Ron DeSantis has parroted the very same talking point, telling Piers Morgan in a recent interview that Russian President Vladimir Putin is a “war criminal” and “basically a gas station with a bunch of nuclear weapons.”

While DeSantis’s John McCain-inspired “gas station” comment was an obvious jab at Russia’s massive fuel production industry, that sector of the Russian economy has taken a major hit after the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline, which an investigative report from Seymour Hersch claims was blown up by the United States.

In the same interview with Piers Morgan, DeSantis walked back comments he’d made to Fox News and Tucker Carlson that opposed further US involvement in the Russo-Ukrainian Conflict. When talking to Carlson, DeSantis accurately described the situation as a “territorial dispute” between the two nations that are linked through centuries of shared history.

But when speaking with Piers Morgan, after media pressure from war hawks and others who back the Ukrainian globalist cause, DeSantis claimed that his “territorial dispute” comments had been “mischaracterized” to imply that he isn’t a supporter of the Ukrainian war effort.
