Jenna Wolfe Illness And Health Update: Jenna Wolfe Diagnosis And Surgery
Jenna Wolfe, a former NBC reporter, disclosed that she recently underwent a hysterectomy.
The former Today show correspondent shared photos of herself in the hospital for the procedure on Instagram on Wednesday and revealed that she will have another surgery in two weeks.
“You know, for a very long period, I lived by the motto, ‘If you fall, make it part of the dance. And up until lately, I was able to navigate everything—network television, personal training, parenting—by stumbling, dancing, stumbling, and dancing. Then I experienced a fairly difficult period, the most recent of which I wanted to share with you.
“About a month ago, I tested positive for the BRCA-1 breast cancer gene (meaning my chances of getting breast and ovarian cancer are… well… really high), leaving me little wiggle room to ‘mull over my choices,’ ” she shared. “So without a ton of options, I stared down my fears, took a deep breath and opted for two pretty big surgeries.”

The first was the surgery I had. I’m terrified of needles, so it’s not enjoyable, simple, or fun at all, but I have to do it, Wolfe penned. “The larger, second surgery will take place in two weeks. Happy to provide more information to anyone experiencing a comparable situation.
A hysterectomy, as defined by the Mayo Clinic, is “an operation that removes the uterus” through an incision in the abdomen.
“Things like this make your mind spin a bit. Will I be able to cope? Can I recover? Will I ever be as motivated as I once was? said the personal trainer.
She continued, “I mean, a big chunk of my life is based around fitness and wellness. . I know I make it all look ‘cute’ on social media… but we all know it’s usually far from cute. Especially with kids.
“Half the time, I’m up at 4:30am, sneaking in a quick workout before the kids get up, grabbing anything edible, racing to school, often times half dressed, most of the time half-witted.”

I’ll confess I’m a little scared, Wolfe wrote. (About a lot of things in my life right now.) But I also understand that in order to learn how to deal with my fears, I occasionally need to allow myself to feel frightened.
“It’s simple to choose the comforts of safety over the difficult tasks. However, safety never confronted, frightened, lifted up, or shoved anyone down. Safety merely acts as a stopgap, preventing you from developing and flourishing.
“These two surgeries are just the most recent in what has been,” she added. Call the past two years for me difficult. But in life, there is only one method to do anything. And I’m experiencing.
“I realize everyone has a story. This is mine. (Well, it’s part of mine). As I embark on it, I’ll be thinking about you and yours,” she concluded.
