A stalker accused a woman he was obsessed with of being with another man after using the fitness app Strava to track her on a run, a court has heard.

Over the two years he knew Emma Lord, 49, Timothy Mills sent her more than 80 Facebook messages and 20 texts.

The 60-year-old met the mother-of-two at their local running club, Macclesfield Harriers, and over time started confessing his love for her as well as leaving roses and letters at her home.

Mills, from Macclesfield, then stalked Ms Lord on Strava – an app that logs exercise routes and times.

He went on to accuse Ms Lord of having a relationship with another runner after seeing on the app that they had ran the same route at the same time.

In fear of bumping into Mills, Ms Lord abandoned running, a hobby she enjoyed doing three times a week, Warrington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Macclesfield Harriers has reportedly suspended Mills’s membership and UK Athletics has suspended his coaching licence, according to The Sun

Cheshire Police are said to be considering whether to bring criminal charges against Mills.

The force also applied for an interim three-month stalking protection order, which was accepted despite Mills’s claims he is not a stalker.

He is therefore forbidden from contacting Ms Lord nor can he approach her or give her any gifts.
