Two teenage girls have been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm after footage emerged of a female victim being repeatedly kicked and punched in a park.
Police had launched an investigation after a video surfaced on social media earlier this week of the two 15-year-old girls shoving another female to the ground and attacking her in a park in Station Road, Ashby, on Saturday.
The pair could be seen stamping on the girl as well as punching and kicking her on the floor as she desperately tried to protect her head with her hands.
After pausing the attack for a few seconds to say something to the victim, the two teenagers dealt a final flurry of kicks before walking off.
A spokesman for Leicestershire Police told MailOnline today: ‘Following your previous enquiry regarding a video posted online of an incident in Ashby on Saturday (24 June), I can confirm that two girls aged 15 have this afternoon (Thursday 29 June) been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.

The video, which was posted to Twitter on Monday, shows a girl being shoved to the ground by two other girls in a park in Station Road, Ashby, on Saturday
‘Our investigation into the incident is continuing.’
The video of the shocking incident was posted to Twitter with the caption: ‘This happened to my younger step sister this weekend… wouldnt say boo to a ghost yet p***ed up girls in the park jumped her???? Everyone share this please.’
A second video, posted in reply to the first, was filmed a few moments after the initial incident, which shows the same three girls as well as an older woman involved in another brawl.
The woman, who is claimed to be the victim’s mother, can be seen pulling the hair of one of the girls as she continues to attack her daughter.

A number of other adults can also be seen in the video, with one man attempting to separate the two girls as they continue to exchange blows and people can be heard repeatedly saying ‘stop’.
The fighting eventually ends after another man puts himself in between the two girls and another woman can be seen leading the mother away.
Another Twitter user, who is also the step-brother of the girl who was attacked, told MailOnline after the video was posted: ‘On Saturday evening the victim was alone in a park where she arranged to see her friends.
‘Shortly afterward, she was then blindsided and brutally attacked by two local girls. These girls set about their attack by stomping and kicking the victim multiple times whilst laughing, spiting and shouting abuse.
