Fans of The Masked Singer have put their collective heads together to guess the identity of the star behind the sugary sweet Pavolva costume.

Described as being ‘as sweet as they look’ and with a long career in the food industry, other clues for the much-loved dessert include the state flag for Western Australia and French references.

Fans guess Pavlova’s identity

Over on Twitter, the top bet at the moment for Pavlova is Anna Gare, a Perth-born musician-turned-cook who rose to fame in the all-female band the Jam Tarts in the ’80s.

After starting a family, Anna, now 52, left her rock ‘n roll life behind and turned to her other passion: food and cooking. She started a catering business and is now a successful cookbook author and TV presenter.

According to local radio host, Matt Layton, Anna is the perfect fit for Pavlova:

“A flag.

Musician.

Well known cook.

Pavlova named after Anna Pavlova.

Pavlova is… Anna Gare?”

Matt’s fellow Twitter users were also confident they’d unmasked Pavlova ahead of the show’s judging panel, with one tweeting, “Early guess for the pav is Anna Gare for sure.”

“It’s Anna Gare. Born in WA. She was a singer in band before becoming a baking queen. Kiwi fruit is red herring,” added another.

“Pavlova = Anna Gare. She is from Perth, was a judge on junior Masterchef and started her career as a musician before moving into food,” wrote a third.

Another fan had an alternate theory, naming US Gray’s Anatomy star Kate Walsh as their pick for Pavlova.

“Ok, what if Pavlova is Kate Walsh from Grey’s Anatomy? She recently moved to Perth AND is about play an immigration lawyer in a film (hence the immigration law book),” they speculated.
