MP- Who Is Melinda Pavey – Melinda Pavey has nominated for the leadership of the New South Wales Nationals following John Barilaro’s resignation, which would also see her become the state’s new Deputy Premier.
Ms Pavey, who is the current Minister for Water, Property and Housing, confirmed her candidacy to Sky News Australia hours after Mr Barilaro called time on his political career on Monday morning.
“I would like to be leader of the Nationals and that’s why I’ve come on your program this morning, I’ve made it clear, I’ve been contacting colleagues, I’m the most experienced Nationals Party MP in Australia,” Ms Pavey told Laura Jayes on AM Agenda.
“I think it is time for us to have a great leader in NSW to continue the work of John Barilaro, that product differentiation, standing up for the regions, and fighting for it and it just so happens I’m a woman as well.
“It’s just about continuing to strive for our fair share, continuing to address the housing issues we’ve got now in regional NSW.”
Who Is Melinda Pavey?
Melinda Jane Pavey is an Australian politician and the New South Wales Minister for Water, Property and Housing in the second Berejiklian ministry since April 2019.
Pavey has been a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly since 2015, representing the seat of Oxley for The Nationals. She was previously a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council between 2002 and 2015.
Pavey has previously served as the Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight from January 2017 until March 2019 in the first Berejiklian ministry government. A former party staffer, the Coffs Harbour businesswoman became the party’s youngest New South Wales member of parliament at the age of 33.
She is a member of The Nationals and represents the seat of Oxley. Between 2002 and 2015, she was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council.
From January 2017 to March 2019, Pavey was the Minister of Roads, Maritime, and Freight. She was a member of Premier Gladys Berejiklian’s first cabinet. She’s also a Coffs Harbour businesswoman and a former member of the party’s staff. At the age of 33, Pavey became the party’s youngest member of parliament in New South Wales.

Melinda Pavey is married to Warren Pavey, her life partner. They have been toether since October 1996. Their marriage may have lasted more than two decades. However, there are few facts about their wedding available.
