Simon Young Illness – Unfortunately, the long-time radio and television presenter with RTÉ 2fm Simon Young’s death news has been released. His friends confirmed his death news, but nothing has been reported about Simon Young’s cause of death.

Although his death reason has not been announced, Young had talked about his battle with depression and other illnesses a few years ago. In August 2011, he appeared on RTÉ Radio 1’s The John Murray Show and, during the interview, said that he had been hospitalized for half of the previous nine years.

US day News doesn’t confirm or refuse this reason for his death, but we are waiting for more official information, so stay with us.

Simon Young, whose real name is Thomas Meade, was living in Washington DC. He had started his career in pirate radio and DJ’ing in the 1970s. He had radio shows on 2FM and presented various TV shows such as The Beatbox.

The TV presenter was also known for making contributions to the cult children’s television strand, Dempsey’s Den, hosted by his radio colleague at that time, Ian Dempsey.

Simon presented Simon’s Choice or Simon’s Saturday Choice on Saturday mornings between 10:00-13:00 in the late 1980s, and The Beatbox and the 2FM Weekend Breakfast Show on Saturdays and Sundays in the late 1990s. Tony Fenton affectionately called him “Simes.”

The legend made regular substitute appearances for Ian Dempsey, and these appearances extended as far as the children’s television favorite Dempsey’s Den on RTÉ Two.

He resigned from RTÉ in 2002. After Simon was forced to leave 2fm, the station continued broadcasting Ireland’s Biggest Jukebox, fronted by station controller John Clarke.
