Achim Borchardt-Hume was a German art curator and a role model for art enthusiasts. Here’s everything we know about his life so far.
Achim, the director of Exhibitions, is said to have died at his home. On social media, a number of his peers and colleagues have paid tribute to him.
He graduated from Essex University in Colchester, England, with a Ph.D. in History, Art, and Theory. Tate’s death was also confirmed by his official Twitter account.
Who Was Achim Borchardt-Hume?
Achim Borchardt-Hume was an International Art Curator of German origin. He was known for his contribution to curating art exhibitions throughout his career.
He curated Rothko in 2008 and Albers and Moholy-Nagy in the year 2006. Furthermore, he previously served as the Exhibition Organizer at the Serpentine Gallery. Hs has also worked as the acting head of Barbican Art Gallery.
His renowned personal projects include Robert Rauschenberg, Malevich retrospective, and The EY Exhibition Picasso 1932.
Achim had gained massive popularity for his position of director of Exhibitions and Programmes at Tate Modern. He had a valuable part in publishing the two worth reading art books Robert Rauschenberg, and Theaster Gates.

Talking of his academics, he was a Ph.D. holder from Essex University, majoring in Art, History, and Theory. Also, he has a degree in art and politics from Fascist Italy.
Death Cause And Obituary Of Achim Borchardt-Hume
Achim Borchardt-Hume’s death got confirmed by Tate, an art gallery in the UK. But his cause of death has yet to get revealed in public.
The official Twitter account of Tate quoted, “As we come to the end of a very difficult week, we’re heartbroken to share the news of the death of Achim Borchardt-Hume”. But there wasn’t anywhere mentioned how Achim passed away.
Achim was working as the Director of Exhibitions at Tate. His colleagues know his hard work and dedication at his workplace. Also, it will be hard to imagine the modern Art Gallery, Tate, functioning in his absence.

Achim executed his first art exhibition in 2006. From 11 November to 28 January 2007, he overlooked the exhibition of In Focus – Living History. And from 9 March to June 4th, he controlled Albers and Moholy-Nagy. From the Bauhaus to the New World exhibition.
In an interview, he was asked if whether he overlooks every exhibition from Tate Modern. He replied that he doesn’t look over all the exhibitions and, it is always a team effort.
