After the network discontinued The S-Files, he was named the principal host of Showbiz Central alongside Pia Guanio and Raymond Gutierrez. Since then, John’s career has taken a turn for the better.
He had planned to play the evil Ida in Zaido, but Paolo Ballesteros was cast in the role instead. In the Aliw Awards 2006, Lapus won Best Male Stand-Up Comic, and in the PMPC Star Awards 2004, he received Best Game Show Host (together with Ai-Ai de las Alas) for ABC-5’s now TV5’s Sing Galing.
