Who Is Subway Shooting Victim Daniel Enriquez? Daniel Enriquez, 48, of Brooklyn, was killed in an unprovoked attack in the aftermath of the fatal subway shooting in New York.

As the Q train rumbled across the East River on a sunny Sunday morning, a man paced up and down the aisle of the last car, with a glimpse of Lower Manhattan city space glittering through the windows.

Dmitry Glivinskiy, a vocal coach riding in the back of the car with headphones on, thought he heard a firework explode. When he looked up, he saw a man with a revolver standing in the middle of the car.

According to authorities, the gunman opened fire without warning, striking Daniel Enrique, 48, in the chest and killing him.

Daniel Enriquez, a Park Slope resident, died on a Manhattan-bound Q train when the demented shooter fired over the Manhattan Bridge at around11:42 a.m. After that, the shooter bolted from Canal Street station.

Mr. Glivinskiy contacted 911 as the other passengers fled to the car’s ends and congregated. He reported, “At that point, you are just stuck and have no idea what you’re supposed to do. And you hope for the best.”

According to NYPD Chief of Department Kenneth Corey’s statement, the killer was a dark-skinned heavyset man with a beard packing back and forth on the northbound train when he fired “without provocation.”

The gunman escaped as the train approached Canal Street, just as police officers swarmed the station, responding to the latest in a string of high-profile, random subway attacks that have shaken New York City’s faith in a system critical to its life and economy.

The incident on the Q train follows a mass shooting on the N train last month that injured at least 23 victims and the shoving death of a woman in the Times Square station in January.

Daniel Enriquez’s sister Griselda Vile spoke out against the gun violence that killed her 48-year-old brother while he was traveling the Q train to brunch.

Griselda Vile told the Post Sunday evening, “No one, no one, no one should have this happen to their family.”

“And the worst part is, even if they find this person, he’ll be out again,” she continued, referring to the state’s bail reform laws, which have resulted in many criminals being released back onto the streets.

Daniel Enriquez sent a group text to the family just one hour before the slaying. As per Griselda Vile’s statement, his parents are currently in their 70s.
