Why Did Helen Skelton Quit BBC Radio 5?
After serving a year in her Sunday morning time slot, Helen Skelton has broadcast her last program for BBC Radio 5 Live.
The TV and radio personality, who apparently faced criticism from superiors for endorsing businesses while working for the BBC, sent her final goodbyes to listeners on Sunday, explaining that she wanted to spend more time with her kids this weekend.
Helen said to her co-presenters, “I am not okay about it but needs must,” as her voice broke. The juggling is genuine.
The actress, who divorced her children’s father last year, said she also wanted to be present for her kids’ weekend sporting events since “there is an eight-year-old with a sideline who needs me.”
Helen afterwards added, “I’ve loved every minute of the past year. Thank you to the team and to all of you,” as she concluded her performance. It’s challenging to speak without being emotional!

Three children, Ernie, 8, Louis, 5, and 16-month-old Elsie, are shared by Helen and her ex-husband Richie Myler.
Richie, a 33-year-old rugby league player for Leeds Rhinos and England, and the television personality, 40, announced their breakup in April of last year.
On her BBC Radio Sunday program, Helen replaced Laura Whitmore in August of last year.
This month, it was revealed that Helen had received criticism from BBC executives for endorsing companies while working on the television program Morning Live.
By tagging apparel, jewelry, and cake makers in her Instagram photos, the television presenter has violated the severe rules of the broadcasting institution.
No on-air personality is allowed to endorse items that they personally use, according to the rules.
The BBC, which is supported by a licensing fee, forbids product placements or advertisements on its websites, radio programs, or television programs.
Helen has already taken down the tags, and she wasn’t paid for mentioning the companies on her social media account.

This month, it was revealed that Helen had received criticism from BBC executives for endorsing companies while working on the television program Morning Live.
‘Helen pays for the items she wears on the show and does not have affiliations with the businesses tagged,’ a BBC source told MailOnline.
She has now taken brand mentions out of social media posts related to the show.
Helen’s representative has been approached by MailOnline for comment.
Helen recently re-entered the dating world, in the meantime.
‘Helen’s family and friends encouraged her to get back out there, and she was eager to dip her toe back into the dating scene, but she has had some wobbles and found herself feeling terrible,’ a source said in an interview with Closer Magazine. She worries about making the right decisions for her life and about not being accepted.
Additionally, some people have criticized her for not trying hard enough to make things work with Richie, which has caused her to reflect on her marriage and what went wrong.
In the end, she is aware that despite her best efforts, there was just no turning back after the trust had been betrayed.
But she’s been having trouble with some unexpected feelings that have come up since she started dating again.
It follows the source’s statement to OK! magazine that she is not yet ready for a long-term, all-in relationship because her trust was betrayed.
She isn’t excluding herself from anything now, though. She is eager for new experiences in every way and is aiming to accept more exciting opportunities.
