Steve Harwell Illness: What Happened To Steve Harwell?

According to reports, Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell is on the verge of passing away due to ongoing medical concerns and unsettling public conduct.

The 56-year-old frontman has now enrolled in hospice care, his management confirmed to TMZ on Sunday.

As he enters his dying days, he is reportedly being cared for by his family.

According to reports, Harwell has struggled with alcoholism and its bodily effects for years.Fans of Smash Mouth were worried for Harwell’s safety in October 2021 when they observed him swearing, slurring his speech, and making threats at a concert.

According to a Smash Mouth spokesman, Steve is receiving hospice care at home while sleeping and is being looked after by his fiance.

The performer is “surrounded by family and friends,” they continue.

He said, ‘My only additional statement is that we would hope that people would respect Steve and his family’s privacy during this difficult time,’ emphasizing the rocker’s need for solitude.

When Smash Mouth formed in 1994, the musician was one of the group’s original members.

Steve and the rest of Smash Mouth gained international acclaim with hit singles including Walkin’ On The Sun, Why Can’t We Be Friends, and All Star before appearing in the 2001 computer-animated movie Shrek.

Fans adored Smash Mouth’s rendition of the Monkees’ legendary hit I’m A Believer, which was featured substantially in the movie and was also heavily featured in All Star.

Steve’s legacy as a musical legend of the late 1990s and early 2000s was cemented when All Star was used in the 2001 blockbuster movie Shrek.

Up until his retirement, Steve was one of the original Smash Mouth band’s only two permanent members. However, following the band’s phenomenal success, Steve had health and substance addiction issues.

The singer, who was born in California, was given a diagnosis of cardiomyopathy in 2013, a group of conditions that harm the heart.

Following the disheartening diagnosis, the Rat Race star was also hit with a second medical setback — Wernicke encephalopathy.

Steve is said to be in the terminal stages of liver failure and currently receiving hospice care with only days to live.

Prior to being transferred to hospice care, he was receiving hospital therapy for his liver problems.

The singer will not turn 60 until later this year.
