The chairman of the Democratic National Committee is an American lawyer and politician named Jaime R. Harrison.

From 2013 until 2017, he was the South Carolina Democratic Party’s chairman.

Harrison ran for the DNC chairmanship in February 2017. On February 23, 2017, he withdrew from the contest and backed Tom Perez.

In the 2020 election, Harrison unsuccessfully bid for the South Carolina U.S. Senate seat against incumbent Senator Lindsey Graham.

In Columbia, South Carolina, where she lives with her husband Jaime Harrison, Marie Carla Boyd teaches at a college.

As a visiting assistant professor, she started her first semester of instruction at the University of South Carolina School of Law in May 2012.

Boyd agreed to work as a professor on a long-term basis in January 2014. According to her bio on the school website, she teaches torts, administrative law, food and drug law, and food law and policy.

In January 2020, she was promoted from assistant professor to associate professor.

Like her husband Jaime Harrison, Marie Carla Boyd is a Yale University alumna. In 2007, she graduated from Yale Law School with a law degree.

During her stay in New Haven, Boyd was an editor for the Yale Law Journal and the Yale Law and Policy Review.

According to her biography on the University of South Carolina website, she participated in the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organisation, the Black Law Students Association, and she held the position of community co-chair for the American Constitution Society.

Marie Boyd used her legal degree to enter the private sector. She spent five years working in the Washington, D.C., law firm Covington & Burling.

Immediately following Barack Obama’s historic victory in the presidential election in 2008, Jaime Harrison and Marie Boyd first became friends.

They were in the middle of the action because they both lived and worked in the city, which was humming.

While working for a renowned international legal firm, she represented clients in civil matters and businesses seeking guidance on federal and state rules.
