Washington Shooting: 2 Dead, 3 Injured In Brentwood Area
Authorities report that a shooting in a Washington, D.C. neighborhood left at least two persons dead and three others hurt.
In a news conference, Washington, D.C. acting police chief Pamela A. Smith revealed that on Wednesday at around 9.50 p.m., officers had responded to gunshots heard in the Brentwood neighborhood, close to the intersection of 14th Street and Saratoga Avenue.
She claimed that as soon as the police came on the site, they discovered three victims of gunshot wounds. In addition to the other man who was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, two individuals were pronounced dead at the spot.
According to Smith, two other males who were “suffering from gunshot wounds” and who presented themselves to a local hospital were assessed to be likely victims of the same shooting occurrence after a preliminary inquiry. While one of them had non-life-threatening injuries, the other was reported as being in critical condition.
“Right now we have a lookout for three people in a gray SUV that was seen fleeing the scene,” Smith added, before requesting members of the public with any information on the incident to come forward to police.
She said, “We know someone out in the neighborhood has information about what happened tonight.
Smith gave no other information about the incident or the suspects involved. But when a reporter questioned her later about whether the injured individuals exchanged gunfire, she replied that the probe was still in its “very preliminary stages.”
A question from a reporter regarding an increase in crime in the neighborhood was also answered by the acting police chief.
When people disagree, she complained, “[you’re] having these crew on crew senseless arguments with firearms being introduced instead of being able to resolve them the way we would typically resolve a dispute.” What I will tell is that, like they always are on a regular basis, our police were in the area.
According to Fox 5 DC, a teenage kid who had been shot on Tuesday was discovered in the city’s north with bullet wounds. According to the source, the young man was involved in a disagreement before being declared dead. An hour later, a second male with gunshot wounds was discovered in the southern area of the city and was also declared dead.
Additionally, FOX 5 DC revealed that there have been 200 homicides so far in 2023.
Anyone with information on the incident on Wednesday is urged to call the police at 202-727-9099 or text them at 50411.
