DAVID Robinson has been to hell and back in the desperate search for son Daniel, who disappeared more than two years ago.

The former Afghanistan army veteran has been leading a heartbreaking mission, mainly off his own back at huge expense, to find the 24-year-old who went missing in the vast expanse of the Arizona desert on June 23, 2021.

Geologist Daniel, who moved to Tempe, Arizona, from Columbia, South Carolina, hasn’t been seen since abruptly leaving a work assignment in the desert for Matrix New World Engineering after just 15 minutes on the job.

He waved goodbye to a colleague, drove away, and disappeared.

Initially, local police enforcement just assumed Daniel had gone on a stroll related to his work, and cops had to be forced into searching the area before admitting defeat far too quickly.

Their forlorn search in Buckeye, Arizona, took place three days after Daniel’s disappearance, and according to David, that only happened because a family member literally “begged” for something to be done.

“They said he was a grown man,” David told The U.S. Sun in an emotional interview at CrimeCon in Orlando.

“They said he could disappear if he wants to. That was when I knew law enforcement wasn’t going to do anything. I had to act.”

David has fought for his country. Now, he was fighting for his beloved son.

“I grew up in the projects with police brutality,” he said. “I’ve got bruises for life from law enforcement. When I hear certain language from them, I know they are going to do nothing.”

How did that make him feel?

“Angry,” he replied. “Hurt too, but the overriding feeling was worry for my son.”

He drove the 2,000 miles from his home in Florida to Arizona and immediately started work.

He gathered hundreds of people to help with a search mission in some of the most testing terrain on earth that lasted an astounding 49 weeks.

At the end of draining, frustrating days, David would head back to his hotel and learn about the Arizona desert, and the dangers that lurked from within.

While any traces of his beloved son, who was born without his right hand, evaded him, there were some shocking discoveries.

David says he found skeletal remains in Buckeye that he believes belonged to “seven” people and were able to give closure to their families.

There had been precious little advancement in finding Daniel, but 30 days after his strange disappearance, came a glimmer of hope.

His badly damaged Jeep Renegade was found by a rancher, turned over in a ravine a few miles away from where he was last seen.

Buckeye police examined the scene, without completing forensic analysis, and relayed that Daniel was wearing a seat-belt, before concluding he must have suffered a serious brain injury, wandered away from the scene after taking off his clothes because of extreme heat, possibly caused by the injuries sustained, and was then attacked by a wild animal who disposed of his remains.

“The police were telling me that people with brain injuries shred their clothes,” he rapped.

“I had a brain injury from a bomb blast. That never happened to me.”

Suggestions Daniel wanted to run away were also quickly debunked by his father.

“As soon as I heard that, it didn’t settle right with me,” said David.

He had to act, such was his anger at the lack of proper, forensic investigation by the authorities, and immediately brought in private investigator Jeff McGrath to help.

Buckeye police had noted a red mark on the vehicle, yet the damage didn’t match the terrain. Something must have come into contact with the car.

“The PI looked at everything and knew this was a staged event,” he said.

“The vehicle was placed there. He knew something was wrong.”

The black box data was examined – and the results were startling.

They discovered it was driven for 11 miles and once the airbag had been deployed, the starter motor was cranked 46 times.

“If you listen to law enforcement saying it’s laying on the side in that ravine for 30 days, how can a person sit in the driver’s seat and crank it up and push the button 46 times to crank it?” asked David with pure and utter disbelief.

He totally refutes claims Daniel was unhappy with life, despite recalling an incident between his son and daughter the day before.

Daniel had texted “emergency” to her, which was their way of saying there was a problem, though when the pair eventually met up at a nearby Waffle house, there was nothing wrong.

“He just wanted to see how fast she would react,” said David.

There are further questions surrounding his cell phone, which appears to have been cloned, with some of the text messages not corresponding with the requisite time stamps.

David, who urges anyone who has any information to make contact via pleasehelpfinddaniel.com is continuing his search for answers – and won’t stop until this most mysterious of cases is solved.

“I’ll just keep fighting and putting pressure on the authorities,” he said. “I want to find my son.”
