A COUPLE has decided to buy an abandoned resort that was left in a horrifying state after being left alone for decades.
YouTube star, Matt Carricker and his wife Meredith Carriker bought the Guadalupe River Ranch resort in Boerne, Texas to revive it back to its former glory. But after twenty years the property looked like a scene out of a horror movie.

In a YouTube video, uploaded in May (@OffTheRanch), Carriker admitted that it was going to be much harder to renovate the property compared to previous renovations.
“it’s 900 times worse than the abandoned mansion was when we found it and bought it,” he explained to his subscribers.
The abandoned resort was a staple in his hometown, having over 40 buildings on the property.
However, after a devastating fire, the resort was and left in shambles and completely closed to the public.
Many of the buildings on the property suffer from major damage, including missing roofs, destroyed walls, and rotting stairways.
While looking through the few structures that were intact, Carricker realized the resort had become a hotspot for goats, living in beds and suites that were for former clientele.

Other places were perfectly intact from twenty years ago, with the beds perfectly made and a no smoking sign on the wall.
The game room looked particularly eerie with peeling walls, a missing roof, and even graffiti that claimed “something wasn’t right here, leave.”
“So the plan is to figure out a way to make this work [and] to figure out a way to make this make money because it’s gonna be super expensive to not only renovate but also just to run it” the YouTuber explained.
Carricker’s wife revealed that despite the hefty workload they plan to take on, they don’t know anything about running a hospitality business.
“We’re nervous and we’re scared, it’s the biggest investment we’ve ever made, and [Meridith] and I did it alone.”
The YouTuber plans to reopen the resort in a few years, by unveiling renovated areas in phases.
The couple is just beginning to work on their new investments and fans are already pitching ideas on what to do.
“You should definitely leave at least one of the untouched rooms as a display, don’t break down the door or ever go into the room, but leave it as a blast to the past of how the resort used to be,” wrote one commenter.
“I’m hoping that you guys can make a couple of horror movies before you get too far along with your renovations. How about a video walkthrough at about midnight just for laughs?” another commenter suggested.
