POWERBALL winner Edwin Castro was seen browsing a $1.6million Mercedes Gullwing at an elite car show, as he plans to add to his collection of luxury vehicles.

An exclusive image obtained by The U.S. Sun shows Castro, 31, using a parasol as he relaxes in the sun and smiles while chatting to an elderly couple next to the supercar.

He was spotted at the recent annual motorsports gathering, held at the Quail Lodge and Golf Club in Carmel, California, as he made polite conversation with the other guests.

The long-haired lotto winner wore a dark T-shirt and zip-up cream jacket with a crossbody bag on the sunny day, as he held on to his baby blue parasol.

Sources told The U.S. Sun Castro was a big fan of motors even before the win, and previous photographs show him wearing a “Gas Monkey Garage” T-shirt on an outing.

An eyewitness at the car show on August 18 said: “Nobody seemed to recognize him and he was having a great time with friends, and chatting away with car owners.

“I overheard he is looking to add to his collection and he has been really interested in buying a Mercedes Gullwing and loves a Porsche 959, which was also featured at the event.

“He seemed like a relaxed, normal guy, and made an effort to talk to other guests who took a shine to him, hopefully, the money doesn’t go to his head.”

BIG SPENDER

Hundreds of car fans descend on the Monterey Peninsula every August, with “The Quail” being the crown jewel event attended by plenty of wealthy motorheads.

According to an online description, it has always “provided an unparalleled and exclusive experience for motorsports enthusiasts and collectors from around the world to enjoy rare collections of fine automobiles and motorcycles in a garden-party setting.”

Lucky Castro has already been pictured driving around in a vintage Porsche 911 since he received his lump-sum payout back in January of $997.6 million.

He also has a six-car garage for his growing collection at his $25.5 million Hollywood Hills mansion next to pop star Ariana Grande above Sunset Strip.

Edwin has also splashed out thousands of dollars on top-of-the-range security and drivers since he was named in February as the jackpot winner, the biggest in history.

But despite him living the high life, he’s also been under pressure after being accused of cashing in a stolen ticket in a bombshell lawsuit filed earlier this year.

A tense legal battle between Castro and fellow Golden State native Jose Rivera, who claims he is the winning ticket holder despite lottery officials’ decision, is ongoing.

Rivera has been backed by outside parties in his claim to the prize and his legal team insists he will keep fighting.

LEGAL BATTLE

His former landlord, Urachi “Reggie” Romero, vocally supported Rivera’s position, alleging the tenant showed him the ticket ahead of the drawing and explained in detail why he picked each number, per the New York Post.

Despite this, Rivera is suing both Castro and Romero, claiming that the landlord stole the slip which was later cashed in.

Romero denied stealing the ticket and says he has no idea what happened to it and hasn’t seen any of the winnings.

Asked why he allegedly didn’t claim the money for months, Castro’s attorney, David De Paoli, told The U.S. Sun: “Because we set up a whole bunch of stuff in the background. It’s a lot of money.”

He further went on to claim he has been working with Castro “since the day after” he won the money, adding: “You’d be surprised how much goes into all of that.”

Castro is believed to have had top professional advice on how to handle his finances and the pressures of being thrown into the media spotlight amid the legal battle.

De Paoli insisted: “But he’s doing all sorts of great things with it, he just doesn’t want everyone knowing.

“He’s a very humble, smart guy … younger, but he’s not a partier, he’s close with his family, he’s spending the money well.”
