Christopher Anthony John Martin, an English singer, songwriter, musician, and philanthropist, was born on 2 March 1977. He is most known for being the co-founder, lead vocalist, keyboardist, and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Coldplay.

He attended University College London after attending Exeter, Devon, where he met other students Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman, and Will Champion to establish the band.

With the release of the song “Yellow” in 2000, they gained recognition on a global scale and went on to get praise for albums like “A Rush of Blood to the Head” (2002), “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends” (2008), among others. As a member of the band, he has nine Brit Awards and seven Grammy Awards.

Martin had his education at the preparatory Exeter Cathedral School and the pre-preparatory Hylton School, where he discovered his love for music.

Following Exeter Cathedral School, Martin boarded at Sherborne School, where he met Phil Harvey, who would later become Coldplay’s manager.
