Water supply set to be hit in Delhi

The breach was discovered on Saturday, according to officials, and the causes of the disturbance have not yet been determined. As a result of a rupture in the water canal at Sonepat in Haryana, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) announced on Saturday that portions of north, northwest, west, and south Delhi as well as Delhi Cantt will not have access to water for two days, on Sunday and Monday. DJB recommended the locals use water wisely and reserve a sufficient amount of water in advance of their needs.

“The clear water production from the water treatment plants at Haiderpur Phase-I, Phase-II, Bawana, Nangloi, and Dwarka Water Treatment Plants will be affected for the next two days due to a breach of Carrier Line Channel (CLC) near Barwasni Village in Sonepat, Haryana, and less receipt of raw water through DSB and CLC. Delhi Jal Board is working to rationalize the water supply while continuously reviewing and monitoring the situation. In the interim, water would be made accessible at reduced pressure till the situation improves or CLC is restored, according to a DJB statement. The breach was discovered on Saturday, according to officials, and the causes of the disturbance have not yet been determined.

They stated that people can call the central control room at 1916/ 23527679/ 23634469 with any questions, concerns, or requests for water tankers. Our inquiries about the water channel breach were not answered by the Haryana government, despite our attempts to contact them. The Delhi Economic Survey 2022–23 states that Delhi receives 40.8% of its water from the Yamuna (river channel, CLC, and DSB canals), 26.5% from the Ganga, and 23.1% from the Bhakra reservoir. Tubewells and ranney wells are used to access the remaining 9.6% of groundwater aquifers. Stay tuned with us for the latest news.
