SQUATTERS took over a homeowner’s rental property and refused to leave even when the cops asked them.

The home is located in College Park, Georgia, eight miles south of Atlanta, and the homeowner has decided to stay anonymous.

The homeowner went to her rental property to bring new renters to the property on October 2 but found an unknown man and woman residing in the house, per 11 Alive.

The squatters reportedly changed the locks and the screens of the windows.

“The two people in there were a man and a woman and they started yelling ‘get out of my house, get out of my house’ basically as if they were supposed to be in there,” the homeowner told 11 Alive.

The College Park police were called to tell the squatters to leave, but that did not work.

The homeowner was told by the police that they could not legally make the squatters leave the rental because they showed them a lease.

However, the homeowner has never seen the lease the squatters had and has never met them.

The homeowner is convinced the people who have taken over her property are seasoned scammers who have experience doing this.

“He’s a professional scammer. You could tell he’s done it before,” she added.

“I’m feeling disgusted. It’s just really sickening that someone can do this and take my house up from under my nose.”

The police added that there is an increase in rental scams at the moment which makes it a bit tougher proving what actually happened.

The increase means the homeowner will need to file an eviction to officially get them removed.

The neighbors explained they also feel uncomfortable with the situation as they do not know anything about the people living in the home.

One of the neighbors spoke in an interview and said: “I was scared, and my pistol is laying out on the foot of my bed right now,” per 11 Alive.

A reporter with 11 Alive and the homeowner visited the home to see if anyone was still living inside.

They knocked on the door and someone put a “No Trespassing Sign” in the door window.

The homeowner plans to continue to fight to get the squatters out of her rental property but she will have to pay hundreds to complete everything to do so.

Squatters are allowed to stay in a home if they meet certain adverse possession criteria in Georgia.

But in most cases, squatters can be removed with a proper eviction notice and legal proceedings.
