SURVIVORS of the University of Idaho Massacre were supposedly awake and texting during the ordeal, according to a new report.

The report claims that “grand jury sources” leaked this supposed new information to the father of one of the victims.

Steve Goncalves, father of victim Kaylee Goncalves, was told that the two survivors were awake and on their phones while the supposed suspect was in the home, according to a report from Air Mail.

The report said: “Yet Steve had been told that the two survivors allegedly had not only been awake while the killings had taken place but that they had heard everything.

“More astonishingly, his grand-jury sources alleged that the two girls had been texting one another as the murderer methodically went from one room to the next.”

A gag order has been placed by the court so this information cannot be confirmed through the police, prosecutors, or parties involved as they have been prohibited from discussing details.

AirMail reported that Steve Goncalves and his attorneys couldn’t comment due to the gag order.

However in a statement the family called the claims a “very poor attempt at getting attention” and “obviously fictional,” Fox News reports.

Bryan Kohberger is currently in court facing four counts of murder for the deaths of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin.

Information was released through a court affidavit that suggested that one of the surviving roommates was awake at the time of the murder, according to CBS News.

The roommates have been kept anonymous and were referred to as D.M. and B.F. in court documents.

This affidavit suggested that D.M. told the police she opened her bedroom door three times that night after waking up at 4am.

She added that it: “Sounded like Goncalves playing with her dog in one of the upstairs bedrooms, which were located on the third floor.”

The affidavit added: “A short time later, D.M. said she heard who she thought was Goncalves say something to the effect of ‘there’s someone here.”

An investigator added that the noise could have been Kernodle’s voice, as records from her phone “indicated she was likely awake and using the TikTok app at approximately 4:12 a.m.”

D.M. said she heard crying coming from Kernodle’s room and a man’s voice that said “something to the effect of ‘it’s ok, I’m going to help you.’”

The survivor added that she opened the door and “saw a figure clad in black clothing and a mask that covered the person’s mouth and nose walking towards her.”

This affidavit said D.M. then stood at the door “in a ‘frozen shock phase,” as the person walked past her and out of the back entrance.

The U.S. Sun has reached out to Steven Goncalves and his attorney Shanon Gray for comment.
