Who is former Air Canada pilot Mostafa Ezzo?

First Officer Mostafa Ezzo is a pilot who was previously employed by Air Canada.

While with the airline, he flew a branded B787 plane and was based in Montreal.

He was untimely fired by the company in October 2023, and shortly after, his social media accounts were taken down.

At this time, additional details on his personal life are unclear.

Why was Mostafa Ezzo fired from Air Canada?

Air Canada confirmed on X, formerly known as Twitter, on October 11, 2023, that Ezzo had been fired.

“We can confirm the pilot in question no longer works for Air Canada, following the process initiated on Monday,” the company wrote.

The decision to fire Ezzo was made after a picture of him allegedly wearing pro-Palestinian colors in uniform circulated on the internet.

Additionally, the group StopAntiSemitism.org posted Instagram screenshots of a man identified as Ezzo, which showed him at a pro-Palestine protest that referenced Adolf Hitler, according to CTV News.

The picture was reportedly taken at a demonstration in Dorchester Square, one day after Hamas attacked Israel.

The surprise attack claimed the lives of more than 700 people, and as a result, Israel declared war on Hamas.

At this time, Ezzo has not commented on the posts or Air Canada’s decision to fire him.

What did the company say about the incident?

In a statement, the union representing Air Canada pilots said they were “incredibly saddened by the tragedies in the Middle East. We condemn all violence and hatred, and any promotion thereof,” according to CTV News.

“It is our firm expectation that all of our members abide by this principle and our professional code of ethics,” the statement added.
